PANDORAS
These female characters, the Pandoras, are living a change in the traditional female roles. They are independent and strong. Their dominance is an experiment to see if they can create their own unique femininity instead of the one society expects from them. My portrait series strives to define what it means to be a woman in today's world.
The series derives its inspiration from classial portriat paintings. The prints are almost life-sized, which make even the smallest details (such as scars) visible. Beside each image there is a short text that gives us a glimpse into their lives.
The female forces I have met in Budapest and Barcelona have sparked my interest in generally defined female roles and how they have changed over the years in our Western society. I was looking for personal stories about the desires and doubts of women nowadays.
